An Introduction to Remember

So you have a large family?Yes? No? Maybe so? You may find this blog of interest, then. A large family is generally considered two adults plus 4 or more children, although one must take into consideration the comment of a friend of mine, who wisely said “In this day and age, it is a luxury to have more than 2 kids….things are just too expensive anymore.” How true. So the definition of a large family is slowly changing to any couple with more than 2 kids.

How, then, do large families make it in such an expensive world? The best option would be to purchase a large ranch in the middle of nowhere with 1000’s of acres and create your own self-sufficient town. Take a lesson from the Amish.

On the offchance that you are unable to do this, however, stay awhile and journey with me as we delve into various family-related topics, from parenting to pets to house cleaning to grocery shopping to making things and more. Why should you read what I have to say? That is an excellent question I would be happy to answer.

I am a former single mother of 1 boy, now 3 years old. I met and married my wonderful husband, who brought with him 3 boys, now ages 8, 6, and 4. We now have an almost 7 month old baby together, of course also a boy. My favorite response when people find out this fact: “Wow, really? All boys?” No, I was kidding. Yes, all boys!

As you can imagine, life is never boring around here. I am a stay-at-home mom while my husband works his hiney off as a unit communicator for a psychiatric hospital. We are both students in college; he is majoring in psychology and I am majoring in recreational therapy (due to change soon). We have joint custody of my stepsons and they are here every other week (due to change as well, hopefully). I spend my days cleaning, cooking, chasing toddlers, helping older boys with homework, feeding and changing the baby, kissing boo boos, and talking online to other moms because that’s one of the few ways I get social interaction with like minded female individuals who can share my plight.

I am as close to a crunchy mom as I can be comfortably. I am pro-life, pro-breastfeeding, pro-babywearing, pro-chiropractic/natural medicine, and pro-delayed vaccination. I do not push my beliefs on others, and expect the same in return. I am a young mom learning more every day, and I love to research, especially when it comes to making informed decisions. I believe that moms should follow instinct just as much as “professional” advice.

In my spare time (ha!) I like to write, play violin, watch movies, and play online games. Spare time means the 2 hour span between the time my children finally drift off to sleep and when I can’t keep my eyes open any longer.

Welcome to the place to come for moms and dads of large families (yes, I will count more than 2). I hope you stay awhile, leave comments, and bookmark this site.
