Housewives. Those women dedicated to caring for their husband, kids, and home. The women who are often underappreciated and underrated. I am a proud housewife, also known as domestic engineer. All day and all night my focus is on taking care of my family, and at a slightly lesser scale taking care of my house.

The green bandwagon has passed through my home, initiating some culture shock and yet some pleasant changes and effects. My first step was moving to cloth diapers, which I began when my youngest was 4 months old. I was armed with a bucket, 20-someodd prefold diapers, and a handful of covers that had more than seen their better days. Slowly through trial and error, this progressed and today, 8 months later, I not only still use my prefolds (minus the old worn covers) but I also am the proud user of pocket and AIO diapers.

I didn’t stop there. I moved on to cloth diapers (really just the $1 4-pack baby washcloths from Wal Mart) and homemade wipes solution. Then the sky was the limit as I began using vinegar in my clothes washer, rinse cycle, instead of fabric softener. I am also plotting to obtain a retractable clothesline and was hoping for a garden that may or may not happen this year…as I am pregnant.

Soap nuts are up for consideration, as are several herbs used instead of medicinal means. More on those later as I research and develop my own opinions of (and uses for).

If you are a “green, simple” person, please share 1 tip for would-be green, simple people!!
